EL WELLINGTON

Fue un avión diseñado en los años ´30 y que se utilizó durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. 

Fue diseñado por Barnes Wallis un ingeniero inglés que participó continuamente en la innovación aeronáutica. El bombardero Wellington destacaba por su estructura que estaba formada por un tejido de rombos que constituía el fuselaje y las alas. 

THE WELLINGTON

It was a plane designed in the years ´30 and that was used during the Second World War. It was designed by Barnes Wallis an English engineer who participated continuously in aerospace innovation . The Wellington bomber was notable for its structure which consisted of a weaving of rhombuses that constituted the fuselage and the wings.

El entrelazado que conforma este avión se adaptaba a la forma aerodinámica que se buscaba, conformando una estructura que se puede denominar geodésica, donde las líneas de las geometrías se curvan. Los tejidos se adaptan a las tensiones y son capaces de repartir las cargas uniformemente, lo que hacía que el resultado en este caso fuera una innovación. 

Esta estructura trenzada estaba realizada en bambú y se recubría con tela. 

Se construyeron mas de 10.000 ejemplares y fueron utilizados entre 1937 y 1945.

Interlacing that makes up this aircraft was adapted to the way aerodynamics that was sought, forming a structure that can be called geodesic, where the lines of the geometry bend. Weavings adapt to the tensions and are able to distribute the load evenly, which made the result in this case an innovation. This weave structure was made of bamboo and covered in fabric. More than 10,000 planes were built and were used between 1937 and 1945.
