A la ONG llega directamente la cáscara desnuda y seca con la fibra de coco que lo recubre, ya que el resto ha sido
anteriormente utilizado por las empresas para la obtención de aceite.

Process for obtaining bowls from coconut:

El tratamiento que recibe el coco es el siguiente:
1) Se corta y pule el borde de la cáscara para conseguir un acabado de la circunferencia uniforme.
2) Se corta la base de la cáscara para que sea estable.
3)
Se pule la fibra de coco restante para tener el acabado exterior
pulido/rugoso (dependiendo el modelo), con unos rodillos pulidores
(buffing wheel).
Dependiendo del diseño final, se pule una única vez (rugoso) o varias veces para el pulido
liso oscuro. Además, se utilizan diferentes "buffing wheels" dependiendo del acabado que se quiera conseguir. En los diseños que que combinan ambos (Mix) o que tienen líneas en el
diseño, primero se marcan las líneas/formas con la máquina de cuchilla
de corte, y seguidamente se termina con la máquina pulidora.
4) Se pule el interior del coco con las máquinas pulidoras y a mano los acabados más complicados
5) Se aplica un poco de aceite de coco natural para conseguir un acabado más luminoso, suave y llamativo.
