ALMOHADA "ESPOSAS DE BAMBÚ"

Son tejidos hexagonales que forman almohadas cilíndricas tradicionales de algunos países de Asia, principalmente en Corea. Los tejidos son realizados con tiras de bambú local. 

BAMBOO WIFE PILLOW 

They are hexagonal weaves that form traditional cylindrical pillows in some Asian countries, mainly in Korea. The weavings are made from strips of local bamboo.

Se utilizan para abrazarlos en las épocas de verano en zonas de mucho calor y humedad los cuales dejan pasar el aire, evitando el uso de telas o fibras densas que aumentan la sensación de calor. También se utilizan como almohadas por las mismas razones. Alcanzan una longitud de hasta 1,30 metros y un diámetro de 20 a 25 cm. Uno de los lados se cierra con el mismo tejido hexagonal y el lado contrario mediante un anillo de bambú, dejando abierta la almohada. El patrón hexagonal y la curvatura de la geometría de la almohada le dan rigidez pero a la vez obtiene flexibilidad para adaptarse al peso que recibe sin romper las tiras de bambú. También se realizan con otros patrones de tejido y en algunos modelos se observan curvaturas a lo largo de la almohada que disminuyen y aumentan el diámetro para dar comodidad al abrazarla.

En la actualidad son menos utilizadas, se fue perdiendo la tradición. Existen también variantes con otras fibras dependiendo de las zonas y las plantas del entorno a las que tiene acceso la población.

They are used to embrace them in the summer times in very hot and humid areas which let the air pass, avoiding the use of dense fabrics or fibers that increase the feeling of heat. They are also used as pillows for the same reasons. They reach a length of up to 1.30 meters and a diameter of 20 to 25 cm. One side is closed with the same hexagonal fabric and the opposite side with a bamboo ring, leaving the pillow open. The hexagonal pattern and the curvature of the pillow's geometry give it rigidity but at the same time it gets flexibility to adapt to the weight it receives without breaking the bamboo strips. They are also made with other woven patterns and in some models there are curves along the pillow that decrease and increase the diameter to give comfort when hugging.  

Nowadays they are less used, the tradition was lost. There are also variants with other fibers depending on the areas and plants in the environment to which the population has access.
